What will we be known for?

It always amuses me how we associate different things with different decades. 20′s – Charleston, Fox-Trot, Louis Armstrong and the radio. Our grandparents rant about the good old days when you would “carry a sod of turf to school with you – if you were lucky enough to go to school (yeah right Grandad).

Fast forward to the hip 70s when disco ruled the scene and our rental units wore uber uncool fashion choices (completely different to the leggins and chinos that we wear today), had huge hair and used phrases like “that’s sick!” (translation: epic/class) or “feeling the funk” (@facebook = having the absolute bant). When quoting “good night John Boy” was as cool as knowing the best hangover quote (Alan: My uncle Roger said he once saw an albino polar bear. Stu: Polar bears are white. How would he know it’s an albino? Alan: This one was black.)
Fast forward 4 decades and here we are; or what are we? What will we be known for? Will it be for social networking (probably) or for shifting and drifting (most likely). When our children ask how Mammy and Daddy met will I say “well it all started when your dad liked my relationship status?”  Another 3 decades from now will we be telling our youngest children about “the total and utter bant and craicidge we had on FB?” Or to “stop laughing because believe it or not Ugg’s were in ok?” The answer?
OMG who cares! I’ll be like 50 by then! #midlifecrisis much?
